Empowering innovation through real-world collaboration within the INVEST European University Alliance<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The University of Milano-Bicocca (UNIMIB)<\/strong>, under the leadership of Prof. Salvatore Torrisi<\/strong>, recently hosted a collaborative meeting to invite new ideas and contributions for the identification of Living Lab projects<\/strong> aligned with the thematic priorities of the INVEST European University Alliance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As defined during the meeting, Living Labs<\/strong> are open innovation ecosystems set in real-life environments<\/em>, where users co-create solutions<\/strong> alongside researchers, institutions, and local actors. These initiatives integrate research and innovation<\/strong> directly within communities, placing citizens at the center<\/strong> of the innovation process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Focus Theme: Healthy and Sustainable Urban Environment<\/strong>
Following discussions across departments and stakeholders, UNIMIB has identified the broad theme of \u201cHealthy and Sustainable Urban Environment\u201d<\/em> as its central Living Lab area within the INVEST framework. Three innovative projects have already been selected:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Monitoring Air Quality in the Bicocca District (City of Milan)<\/strong>
    Led by Prof. Paride Mantecca<\/em>
    A citizen-science approach to tracking air pollutants and raising awareness on urban air quality.

  2. Sustainable Urban Mobility \u2013 Bicocca Mobility Solutions<\/strong>
    Led by Prof. Matteo Colleoni<\/em>
    Research-based strategies to enhance accessibility and promote greener modes of transport.
    \u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Solar Energy Solutions: Monitoring & Innovation in the Bicocca District<\/strong>
    Led by Prof. Simona Binetti & Prof. Maurizio Acciarri<\/em>
    Piloting new solar technologies while monitoring their efficiency and integration in urban spaces.

    Connecting Learning with Impact<\/strong>
    These Living Labs also complement the development of a new Joint Bachelor Degree in Sustainable Energy<\/strong>, co-created by UNIMIB and partner universities within INVEST. For students, the integration of Living Lab projects means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
