On February 12, 2025, the School of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Thessaly (UTH) hosted an informative event dedicated to showcasing the progress and impact of the INVEST project, which is part of the European Universities Initiative of the European Union.

The event aimed to highlight key achievements, engage faculty members, and encourage further participation in the project’s activities. It was held in a hybrid format, with both in-person and online participation, at the Department of Animal Science’s auditorium on the Gaiopolis Campus.
Prof. Nicholas Samaras, the scientific coordinator of INVEST at UTH, delivered an in-depth presentation on the project’s objectives, programs, activities, and the opportunities available to faculty members. Additionally, Prof. Eleni Malissiova introduced a proposal for a new Living Lab under the INVEST framework at the University of Thessaly: “Resilient Food Systems Living Lab: Integrating Heritage, Safety, and Security for Sustainable Food Futures”.
The Resilient Food Systems Living Lab is envisioned as an inclusive, collaborative, and action-oriented space designed to create, test, and scale innovative solutions for building resilient food systems.

The event was honored by the presence of Dean of the School of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Eleni Vogiatzi, who emphasized the importance of the initiative and the need for fostering collaboration in sustainable food systems and innovation. Following the presentations, participants engaged in a discussion on the project’s implementation and explored various ways for faculty members to actively contribute to INVEST.
