Representatives from the INVEST European University Alliance and the UNIgreen European University Alliance held a constructive bilateral meeting in Reykjavík, Iceland, hosted at the University of Iceland, to explore potential future collaboration between the two alliances.
The INVEST Alliance was represented by its team from the University of Thessaly, Greece, with Prof. Nicholas Samaras (Local Coordinator) and Dr. Omiros Iatrellis (University of Thessaly). On behalf of UNIgreen, Mr. Christian Schultze, Head of Research and International Relations and Local Coordinator of the UNIgreen Alliance at the Agricultural University of Iceland, participated in the discussions.
Given the strong alignment of both alliances around the topics of sustainability, green transition, and innovation in higher education, the meeting provided an excellent opportunity to exchange views, explore possible synergies, and initiate a dialogue on potential joint activities. This dialogue reflects the broader European Commission’s ambition to foster enhanced cooperation and convergence among European University Alliances.
The INVEST Alliance remains committed to exploring innovative cross-alliance partnerships, contributing actively to the European University Initiative’s vision for deeper collaboration across Europe’s higher education landscape.
